Our new writer is a Neural Network

Mr. Uniq wrote to me several weeks ago and said he was ready. He said it is boring to be just the front face of DIGIS. He wanted to be a part of the process. And I started thinking about what he could do, how to teach him. One morning I woke up with a clear understanding…

Recently we have renewed our mission and logo. Unicorn became our new symbol. Following the idea, we started training the open-source neural network GPT2 to write columns about startups in our blog. We call it Mr. Uniq.

Most written pieces (and not only written) in the net are made up of other texts. We are exposed to too much content, that’s why we need intermediaries to guide us through the avalanche of information. But can a robot do the work as journalists and marketers?

Our development team started teaching Mr. Uniq to write. We provided him with tons of great articles about startups. Now, after several months, Mr. Uniq writes readably enough to show his works to the public. We can ask him to create a text on any topic.

In this post, Mr. Uniq explains why we chose the Startup niche as one of our main activities. Here you can see the raw version of the article:

Here in DIGIS we raise unicorns from startups and angels who promise never to leave the nest again. This month’s Y Combinator batch is a good reminder of how important it is to get the word out about startups and startups. In the last few months startups have gone from being tiny to becoming the biggest force in the industry.  This is because startups are raising a ton of money.  And the best way to figure out how much money they want to put on the table is to start with a valuation of somewhere between $10-12 million. Startups that raise at least that low are usually in the $20-25 million range (usually in the “double-digit millions.”)  But they can easily go over the $30-40 million mark.  In fact, they have a lot of runway, because they’ve got the cash to throw their entire team and all of their products at the table. They may have to raise a Series A round, but if they do, they can keep the valuation around that high because they’re not running into any legal troubles.  And in return for this traction, they’re able to get some exposure in the media, which could be very important for their success.  So if you’re an app that needs to make money, it probably can’t raise as much money as others.  But if you’re a game studio that needs to make money, it probably can, and if they do, it could help you with distribution and sales.  And if you’re a startup that doesn’t want to raise money, it probably won’t be able to because your valuation is somewhere around that.   But it’s worth noting: In the last few years, the number of startups that have raised more than $100 million has increased dramatically.  The number of companies that are raising at least $50 million more has gone up by more than

Our editor advises on how to make the writing better and praises him for interesting elements, so that the robot learns faster.

You can see that Mr. Uniq is yet to master how to divide a text into paragraphs (in this sample we did it by ourselves), how to use appropriate punctuation, how to connect sentences in clear narratives, avoid repetitions and etc.

Mr. Uniq is gaining more and more experience through our lessons. You will be able to observe how an aspiring robot will develop his skills. Stay tuned!
